D365 F&O Functional Consultant

About the role

We are hiring a functional consultant to run finance and supply chain work on Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations. You will lead workshops with finance and operations staff, configure the system to the process the business actually runs, and stay with the client through testing and go-live.

This is a client-facing role. The work is as much about asking the right questions and writing down the answer as it is about configuration.

Responsibilities

• Run discovery workshops with finance, procurement and operations stakeholders and turn the output into an agreed design
• Configure the modules in scope: general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, fixed assets, procurement and sourcing, inventory, project accounting
• Perform fit-gap analysis and state plainly where the standard product does not fit, including the cost of the gap
• Prepare and support data migration: templates, validation, reconciliation and the cutover runbook
• Build test scripts, run UAT with client users and triage what comes back
• Train the internal team and hand over documentation they can use after we leave
• Work alongside technical consultants and the client's IT team, and escalate a decision when one is being avoided

Qualifications

• Hands-on configuration in at least two of: general ledger, procurement and sourcing, inventory, project accounting
• Comfortable owning a room of finance or operations staff and defending a design decision with a reason
• At least one full lifecycle implementation, from workshop through to post go-live support
• Able to read a chart of accounts and a stock ledger without needing them explained
• Clear written English, and the habit of writing the decision down
• Willing to travel to a client site when the work needs it
